About Safety
Myth No. 1 – Can ultrasound be the safe option in the pregnancy?
So, I would like to tell you that ultrasound is the safest modality which can be used during the pregnancy.
Unlike X-rays and CT Scan which can cause the radiation and can harm the baby ultrasound machine emits sound waves which are not at all harmful for the baby.
The transducer is applied on the female’s body and it emits the sound waves and these sound waves are again picked up by the transducer and are converted into the image and this these sound waves are totally safe without any radiation.
About Transvaginal scan
Myth No. 2 – Can transvaginal scan or the internal scan be risky or harmful?
Transvaginal scan is not at all risky or harmful.
The early pregnancy scans are usually done by the transvaginal scan. It can also be used in the later half of the pregnancy to check the cervical length or uterus and they are not at all harmful.
About Miscarriage
Myth No. 3 – Can ultrasound cause Miscarriage?
Ultrasound won’t cause any miscarriage and it is totally safe for the baby’s growth.
About birth anomalies
Myth No. 4 – Can all the birth anomalies are picked up or Identified by Ultrasound?
So, I would like to tell that ultrasound can pick up most of the anomalies.
However, it cannot give hundred percent (100%) surety of the birth of a normal child.
It depends upon the technical issues of the ultrasound and also depends upon the position of the baby at the time of the scan.
