In Our Centre, an abdominal scanning test is usually done as an outpatient procedure. Before taking the scan, you may be asked to drink plenty of fluids and avoid eating for 4-6 hours before the scan.

During the procedure, you will be asked to lie down on your back and remain still while images of your upper abdomen are taken with an ultrasound machine.
